Water From a Rock Night:

We didn't play a themed game this night, we played Bomb Torpedo.  At the end of the night, we did a themed activity of a rock-shaped pinata.  You could always give the kids sticks and let them run around and hit each other (just kidding, very bad idea)

Read Numbers 21:5-9

Review the story by talking about complaining and how God doesn't like it because he is in charge of all our circumstances (Romans 8:28)

Next, you can have the kids act it out by having some pretend to be snakes, and others be Israelites

Finally, get everyone back together and talk about the serpent on a stick.  John 3:14 tells us, "Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;" followed by talking about John 3:16.

After the message and prayer, snack and then the following craft.

Theme Based Activity:

Rock Pinata

We had a parent from the group make a pinata the shape of a rock.  It was actually surprisingly easy to do.

Supplies: A couple balloons (we used three), some flour, water, a newspaper, gray paint, and of course candy (or some other prize) .  I am sure there are a hundred "how to make a pinata" videos on youtube, but you blow up the balloons about halfway.  Then cut four inch strips from the newspapaer.  Mix some flour and water in a bowl until it is a drippy paste with the consistancy of pancake mix.  Dip the newspapers in the paste and place it on the balloons until fully covered and a few layers thick.  Let the pinata dry (overnight if possible), pop the balloon, cut a circle hole in the bottom, paint the pinata, insert candy.

We didn't hang the pinata but let the kids whack it on the ground with a stick.  We let the winners of our game get first hits, and then went from youngest to oldest.
